We are delighted to start the third term of the adult education classes; the second term was a tremendous experience and a collaborative effort in which we all grew as a community united around the goals of improving our lives and the lives of our children through education. We hope this second term is once again filled with that fundamental ingredient which makes things possible; our GANAS* to learn and improve our lives.
Introduction
KIPP Academy Lynn engages all members of the school community — students, teachers, administrators, and parents — to participate in creating an environment of “excellence” where ambitious, rigorous expectations are met and focused behavior and high achievement are the norm.
The adult education program started on November 5, 2007 as a free program that provides training and development to parents of KIPP students and to the greater Lynn community; initially the program is offering English and computer literacy classes.
It is our goal to be visible, engaged, and inviting ambassadors through support of local programs and participation in the community.
Sharing with and learning from students, parents, and members of the Lynn community makes the journey towards a brighter future more promising and attainable.

Policies
Student Attendance Policies
The standard regular attendance is the minimal requirement for student attendance in order to foster continuity in the instructional program. When the standard is not met, actions are taken which reflect a continuum of consequences for increasing absenteeism.
The adult education classes will follow the same calendar as the KIPP Academy Lynn school calendar, this includes cancellations due to inclement weather.
Attendance directly affects the academic achievement of students. Students with excessive absences cannot profit from educational programs and activities offered at school. Students are encouraged, therefore, to attend classes regularly and promptly except in emergencies.
Three (3) unlawful absences during any marking period results in failure of classes for that marking period.
Instructional Materials Policies
It is the responsibility of the student to purchase the textbook and audio materials, KIPP Lynn will provide lesson plans and handouts of helpful content.
Child Care Policy
KIPP Academy Lynn will offer free childcare to parents participating in ESL or Computer classes. Childcare is available for children from the ages of 5 to 12 . Parents must escort children to the childcare classroom before going to their class and must pick them up afterward. No child can be left unattended or in the school hallways. We ask that children not bring toys from home, activities will be provided as well as a light snack.
