2007-2008
Now that it is summer,
THERE IS NO MORE TIME TO WASTE!!!!!
July:
- Families should begin researching schools in which they are interested through school websites and resources such as The Association of Boarding School Directory (TABS); The Association of Independent Schools of New England (AISNE); and the Archdiocese of Boston Catholic Schools Organization (ABCSO).
August:
- Continue researching schools
- Request admissions information and application materials from schools
- Students begin SSAT and HSPT Preparation at KIPP Academy Lynn
September:
- A list of 2-6 schools you are considering applying to should be on file and approved by Ms. Plummer
- Students should continue to prepare for high school entrance examinations
- Review all admissions materials received and make note of application requirements, forms, and deadlines
- Families should make note of upcoming Open House dates for schools of interest
- Submit 2006 Federal and State Tax information to Ms. Plummer
October:
- Final list of 2-6 schools you will apply to should be on file and approved by Ms. Plummer
- Begin Catholic School applications
- Register for the Catholic High School Placement Test (HSPT) by October 31, 2007
- Register through KIPP for the Secondary School Admissions Test (SSAT)
- Attend Open House programs and placement fairs
- Schedule on-campus school visits and interviews. Inform Ms. Plummer of all scheduled appointments
November:
- Attend Open House programs and placement fairs
- Students attend Mock Interview Workshops at KIPP
- Continue working on Catholic School applications
- Begin working on Boarding and Independent Day School applications
- Submit all school and teacher recommendation forms directly to Ms. Plummer by November 15.
Do not give teacher recommendations forms to individual teachers.
- Make on-campus school visits and interviews
- Complete Catholic School Financial Aid (FACTS) application
- Take the Catholic High School Placement Test (HSPT) at a Catholic School site November 17
- Take the SSAT exam at KIPP (for students applying to independent day or boarding schools)
- First Quarter Ends, Transcripts and School Records compiled and forwarded to schools
December:
- Catholic School application Deadline
- Continue working on Boarding and Independent Day School applications
- Begin Independent School Financial Aid (SSS/PFS) application
- Take the SSAT exam at KIPP (for students applying to independent day or boarding schools)
- Take the Catholic High School Placement Test (HSPT) December 8
- Make on-campus visits and interviews
January:
- Boarding and Independent Day School application Deadline
- SSS Financial Aid Deadline. PFS forms due to SSS by January 15
- Submit 2007 Federal and State Tax information to Ms. Plummer by January 15
- Submit Boarding and Independent Day School Financial Aid applications to schools. Deadline
February:
- Catholic School notification
March:
- Independent Boarding and Day School notification
- Attend Catholic School Revisit Days for accepted students
- Financial Aid award notification
- Catholic School enrollment decisions Deadline
April:
- Attend Boarding and Day School Revisit Days for accepted students
- Families must inform Boarding and Independent Day Schools of intent to enroll or decline acceptance
- 8th grade students discuss transition issues to prepare for high school
