About Us
KIPP Massachusetts
KIPP Massachusetts (KIPP:MA) is a group of free, open-enrollment public charter schools serving students and families in Lynn (and soon, in Boston). The mission of every school in the region is to create an environment where students develop the academic skills, intellectual habits, and character traits necessary to maximize their potential in high school, college, and the world beyond.
Both schools in Lynn will move into a brand new 68,000 sq.ft. facility in fall 2012, which will serve 850 students in grades 5 - 12 at full capacity. By the year 2019, KIPP Massachusetts will serve more than 2,100 students at 5 schools across Lynn and Boston.
KIPP Academy Lynn
KIPP Massachusetts started in 2004 with one school - KIPP Academy Lynn - which now serves 375 students in grades 5 - 8.
KIPP Academy Lynn Collegiate
Our second school, KIPP Academy Lynn Collegiate opened in Fall 2011 with 96 founding 9th graders. These students entered both from KIPP Academy Lynn Middle School (70 students) and through a 9th grade lottery held in March 2011 (26 students).
KIPP Nationwide
KAL is part of the Knowledge Is Power Program (KIPP), a national network of college-preparatory public schools with a track record of preparing students in underserved communities for success in college and in life.
There are currently 109 KIPP schools in 20 states and the District of Columbia serving more than 34,000 students. Nationally, more than 95% of KIPPsters graduate from high school and 88% of KIPP alumni have gone on to college.
